Music, our universal language

Nestled in the vibrant streets of the 4th district of Porto Alegre, Brazil, Grezz is more than just a venue; it’s a beacon of musical convergence, embodying the essence of community, creativity, and celebration. As a fusion of a music studio, bar, and show house, Grezz resonates with the collective heartbeat of its patrons, creating an immersive experience where every chord struck and note played brings people together.

The branding project for Grezz was a collaborative journey of exploration and innovation with my team at the studio. This project was particularly meaningful to me as it marked one of my first opportunities to participate in the immersion process with the client. Our goal was to create a space inspired by jazz, and the concept "Music is what unites us" naturally emerged from the shared love of music among the three owners of Grezz. This same passion for music was what we aimed to share with the diverse groups of people who would come to enjoy Grezz.

My role involved diving deep into the design aesthetics of jazz, researching album covers, posters, and other visual elements. This research guided us in developing a visual identity that reflected both the mixing background of the main owner and the essence of jazz. We crafted a monochromatic palette of purples and greys, reminiscent of classic jazz album covers, to convey sophistication and depth. The bold, condensed typography paid homage to iconic jazz lettering, evoking nostalgia and familiarity.

To add a tactile dimension, we transformed instrument photos into screen tone textures, inviting patrons to not only see but also feel the rhythm and soul of Grezz. This fusion of visual elements was designed to create an immersive experience, celebrating jazz and music production while fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
